Bhvya Kathait

Hello there!
I’ve always found it fascinating that a few well-chosen words can do what pages of information sometimes cannot: make someone think differently. That, to me, is the real power of public speaking. It is not simply about standing before an audience and being heard; it is about taking an idea that exists in one mind and giving it the clarity, conviction, and reach to enter another.

I’m Bhvya Kathait, a Class XI student from the City Campus and a part of the Logistics Team for TEDx this year.

Public speaking has become one of the ways through which I understand ideas and people. I’m drawn to the exchange that happens when someone puts a perspective into words and an audience is willing to genuinely engage with it. A good speaker can challenge an assumption, complicate an otherwise simple question, or make an unfamiliar perspective feel suddenly relevant. In a world increasingly saturated with information and opinion, I believe the ability to communicate thoughtfully and to listen with equal intent is an essential part of meaningful discourse.

Debating has been one of my greatest passions for years, and it has profoundly shaped the way I approach both speaking and thinking. It has taught me to question assumptions, build arguments with precision, and engage sincerely with perspectives that differ from my own. More importantly, it has taught me that disagreement can be productive. Sometimes, the most valuable outcome of an argument is not proving yourself right, but leaving the conversation with a more nuanced understanding of the question.

That is what makes TEDx particularly meaningful to me. I see it as a platform where ideas are not simply presented, but exchanged. It brings together people with different experiences, disciplines, and perspectives and gives them the opportunity to make those ideas accessible to an audience beyond their immediate world. I believe motivation often begins in precisely this way: with an encounter with a person, a story, or an idea that makes you reconsider what you thought you knew or imagine what you had never considered possible.

As a part of Logistics, I’m excited to contribute to the part of TEDx that exists behind the spotlight. Logistics may not be what the audience sees, but it is what allows everything they do see to happen seamlessly. From coordinating people and timelines to solving the inevitable last-minute complications, I look forward to bringing organisation, adaptability, and composure to the process.

Most importantly, I’m excited to be part of a team creating a space where ideas are spoken, perspectives are challenged, and conversations continue long after the microphone is switched off.
